Jason "Jay" Pritchett is the patriarch of the Pritchett family. He is Claire, Mitchell and Joe's father. Jay has a dog named Stella. Jay's wife is Gloria and his stepson is Manny. He is a veteran of the Vietnam War and he is the founder and former CEO of Pritchett's Closets & Blinds. Gloria Marie Delgado Pritchett is Jay's second wife. She is much younger than Jay. She is from Colombia; she speaks Spanish and English. She has two sons, Manny and Joe. Manny and Joe are brothers but they have different dads. They all live together in a big house in Los Angeles, in California. They have a lot of money.
Phil Dunphy is Claire's husband and they have three children, Haley, Alex and Luke. Phil works as a real estate agent in Los Angeles. He thinks he is a ''cool dad''. Claire is a stay-at-home mom. She is strong and organized. Haley is Alex and Luke's older sister. Luke is Haley and Alex's brother. They live in the suburbs of California.
Cameron and Mitchell are married. They have one adopted daughter, Lily. Mitchell is an environmental lawyer and his husband Cameron is a stay-at-home dad. Cameron is from a small farm in Missouri. Mitchell is also Claire's brother. They live close to Claire and Phil and their kids.
